Today's Webtip: Bill's Back!

The creator of Calvin and Hobbes gives his first interview in 15 years

Bill Watterson is a name you might know. If you don't, you probably know the figures he has created.

Calvin and Hobbes.

The little boy and his tiger have been a massive hit for quite some time. And that's amazing considering the fact that the comic strip ended in 1989 and other than a few books, it hasn't been merchandised to death like many other products of pop culture.

Of course, it's not just the strip that went silent in 1989. The author himself took a step back out of the limelight, despite attempts by reporters to lure him into an interview.

Until now at least.

John Campanelli from the Plains Dealer sent Mr. Watterson an email, and was more than a little surprised to get an answer in return. The result is a short article encompassing the answers to six questions.

It's not much, but it's better than nothing.

The Interview

And considering how many people have tried and failed, here is the story behind the interview

Did you know that Bill Watterson was a political cartoonist? I didn't. But thanks to some ex-colleagues of his, we can take a look at some of his early work.

"I think some of the reason "Calvin and Hobbes" still finds an audience today is because I chose not to run the wheels off it."
