„Es ist unmöglich, in Israel nicht politisch zu sein“

Noga Erez ist nicht einverstanden Ein Fahrplan durch die Wut der Musikerin aus Tel Aviv anhand von drei Videos.

Sonne, Hitze, Stillstand. Im Zeitlupentempo lässt Noga Erez Dampf ab. Die Songs und Videos der Künstlerin aus Tel Aviv zerbersten fast vor Spannung, obwohl niemand schreit, in eine Gitarre drischt oder Raps bellt.

Wie viele junge Israelis ist auch Noga Erez nicht einverstanden. Nicht einverstanden mit der Palästinapolitik ihrer Regierung, nicht einverstanden mit dem Rechtsruck der Gesellschaft, nicht einverstanden mit der Korruption der Machtelite, die den Jungen die Zukunft verbaut.

„Es ist unmöglich, in Israel nicht politisch zu sein“, sagt die 28-Jährige beim FM4-Interview in Berlin. „Die Unruhe, die die Welt erfasst hat, ist für die Menschen in meiner Region schon sehr lange Lebensrealität. Und sie lähmt jeden und alles“.

Noga Erez das Musikprojekt ist eigentlich ein Duo, doch Partner Ori Rousso hält sich lieber im Hintergrund. Die Musik der beiden hat das Feeling von Hip Hop, ohne dass je richtig gerappt wird. Namen wie M.I.A., Björk oder Portishead kommen einem in den Sinn und doch ist der Sound von Noga Erez sehr eigen. Anfang Juni erscheint das Debütalbum „Off The Radar“. Im Interview erklärt uns Noga Erez ihr Themenspektrum anhand der drei bisher erschienen Musikvideos.

Noga Erez: „This song is a conversation with my country. It’s not adressed to the government and its people directly. It’s just a dialog with this entity, spilling all my thoughts and frustrations. And I’m in hopeless mode. It seems that the conflict (with the Palestinians, Anm.) will never end. The situation is very complicated and the government is not willing to do the right things. There is a growing frustration especially among young people.“

Pity

Noga Erez: „I don’t know if sexual abuse is on the rise, or more women dare to come out, or we just read about it more because of the internet. Violence against women is common in all parts of society. There was this case, where a girl had sex with multiple men in a bar. A lot of people were filming with their smartphones so it was all over the internet and the news media. Suddenly people were playing the part of the judge: Was it consensual, or not? Was it rape, or not? This is awful. Besides that this girl was exposed to the public and therefore a victim, everyone seems to think to know the truth now. Why? This is hideous.“

Toy

Noga Erez: “Toy” attacks power from a different angle. It talks about inherited power. It talks about us living in a democracy, where the prime minister is voted in an election but most politicians gain power because they are relatives of other politicians. It is another form of corruption and it damages the democratic system.
