White Lies spielen „Tokyo“ und „Change“ für uns

Die britische Band White Lies kam anlässlich ihres Konzerts in Wien in das FM4 Studio, um zwei Songs (semi-)akustisch einzuspielen.

Das Londoner Trio White Lies wurde vor zehn Jahren mit dem Debutalbum „To Lose My Life“ bekannt. Der intensive, dunkle Sound der Band - inspiriert von Post-Punk und Bands wie Joy Division - machte international Furore. Heuer veröffentlichten Harry McVeigh, Jack Lawrence und Charles Cave mit „Five“ wieder ein starkes Album, es ist bereits ihr fünftes. Einen der wichtigsten Songs am Album, „Tokyo“, spielten Charles und Harry von den White Lies dann auch für FM4, sowie dazu noch „Change“ vom 2013er Album „Big TV“.

Charles Cave über ihre Version von „Tokyo“ für FM4: „Harry and I spent quite a long time figuring out a way how to do ‚Tokyo‘ in a stripped back way, but in a way that feels true to us. So what we have done with ‚Tokyo‘ is a sort of a strange futuristic karaoke-interpretation. There’s a playfulness to it, actually quite a lot of silliness, and I think that’s quite important in pop music.“
